To be sure, both providers are well known and trusted by many. But popularity doesn’t necessarily mean the best.

Catch this. The best web host provider for YOU is the one that fits your needs and preferences.

So today, we’re going to compare Hostinger with Hostwinds in an attempt to see which one will suit you more.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started right away!

Hostinger vs Hostwinds - A Side by Side Comparison

To compare both providers, we’re going to look at their:

  • Uptime and performance
  • Website building
  • Migration services
  • Products and features
  • Security
  • Pricing
  • Customer Support

Uptime and Performance

To many, uptime rates are the most important factor as they tell you about the provider’s reliability.

Hostinger’s uptime does tend to vary. It goes up and down every now and then. In 2022, they reached a low, going offline for 23 hours! As of now, their uptime average is .

But as they have proven in the past, they can get back up and offer a better rate in the near future.

Hostwinds, on the other hand, boasts a 99.60% (August 2022) average uptime. Websites under Hostwinds almost never experienced any downtime throughout the year. That’s impressive!

Hostinger vs Hostwinds - Which Web Hosting is Better Hostwinds

Both Hostinger and Hostwinds offer great features to improve performance.

Hostinger comes with a LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress, while Hostwinds has a CDN (only on the Business Hosting plan) that increases site speed.

Because of these features, you can rest assured that your content will load quickly with both providers, and thus decrease your site’s bounce rate.

WINNER: Hostwinds. Uptime is arguably the most essential aspect to take note of when selecting a web host. While Hostinger does offer decent uptime, the lack of stable uptime puts it behind the exceptional reliability of Hostwinds.

Website Building

If there’s one thing clients love about Hostwinds, it's their site builder.

They use Weebly for their free site builder. This is the easiest when it comes to making a website all by yourself.

Yep, you don’t need to know any line of code. And, you can choose from a wide selection of customizable themes that will fit your website’s branding.

If you plan to use WordPress, you can also use their Softaculous one-click installation for WordPress.

Hostinger, on the other hand, offers a WordPress site builder. For non-WordPress sites, you’ll have to pay a monthly fee to access their Zyro website builder.

WINNER: Hostwinds. Both hosts offer great site builders. However, while Hostwinds offer theirs for free, you have to pay to get Hostinger’s. This is the reason why we chose Hostwinds as our winner.

If you’re using WordPress, though, no worries. Both offer a 1-click WordPress installation.

Migration Services

Both Hostinger and Hostwinds have free migration services for any type of website.

However, Hostinger only supports free WordPress migrations. You’ll have to pay extra if you want to transfer a site running with another CMS.

Hostwinds, on the other hand, offers their FREE service for any CMS.

Now, the migration services of these two web hosts are similar to each other in terms of ease and speed. Even if you’re the one doing the migrating, there are only a few steps to transfer your site.

WINNER: Hostwinds. As you might expect, Hostwinds is our winner for this category. I mean, you get a FREE migration service regardless of CMS.

Products and Features

What makes a web hosting plan a good value for money?

The features included, of course!

Let’s take a look at how Hostinger’s Single Shared Hosting plan compares with Hostwinds’ Basic plan:

At first, the lack of a free domain in Hostinger’s Single Shared Hosting plan looks like a disadvantage.

But if you get the next higher plans (Premium and Business Shared Hosting) it has a free domain. Plus, Hostinger’s higher Shared Hosting plans are still cheaper than the Basic plan offered by Hostwinds.

Yes, Hostwinds has a higher price for their Basic plan, but you also get unlimited storage space with that.

Now, I know that a lot of websites won’t need unlimited storage space. Still, it’s good to know that you have that in case you want to upload video content or high graphics.

WINNER: Hostwinds. Sure, we said that Hostinger’s higher-priced plans have more features and are less expensive than Hostwinds basic plan.

But if we just base it on the basic plan, then Hostwinds wins by a mile, with a free domain, unlimited storage, cPanel control panel, and nightly backups.

Security

Both Hostinger and Hostwinds offer the most common security measure, SSL certificates, for free on their plans.

But what other security measures do they offer?

Both web hosts provide malware protection and backups. Hostinger has a weekly backup, while Hostwinds has a nightly backup.

Aside from the regular backups, these are stored in the cloud so it’s a lot safer. You can even access these backups whenever you want, plus you can store them for as long as you need.

WINNER. Tie. Both hosts offer a range of security features that’ll keep your site’s visitors and your files safe from any malicious hackers or attacks.

Pricing

Which provider offers more affordable plans?

Check this chart to compare the different hosting plans and their prices:

Hostinger

$1.39 - $3.99/mo

$6.74 - $9.74/mo

WordPress Hosting

$1.99 - $11.59/mo

--

VPS Hosting

$3.95 - $38.99/mo

$12.74 - $431.24/mo

Dedicated Server

--

$106 - $197/mo

Just looking at the chart, it shows that Hostinger is better for people who are price sensitive.

WINNER: Hostinger. Hostinger is the clear winner here, offering some of the most affordable packages in the market. This is perfect for budget-conscious site creators looking for great value.

Customer Support

Customer support isn’t one of Hostinger’s strengths.

Apart from having just one channel to contact their team, it also takes a while to be able to talk to a representative.

Hostwinds is a lot better than Hostinger in this area. Their customer support is available on live chat, email, and ticketing. You also get to contact someone a lot faster.

WINNER: Hostwinds. With multiple support methods and quick response times, Hostwinds takes the cake.
