Hostinger vs GoDaddy – Which Web Hosting is Better this 2023?

Hostinger and GoDaddy may have a lot of similarities, but with my help, we’ll be able to figure out what makes them stand out from each other. And this way, you’ll know which is the better one for YOU.

No doubt, we all want a provider that gives 100% uptime. Sadly, this is hard to achieve. 

For 2023, Hostinger reached one of its lowest uptime averages at 99.75%. Last year, they were offline for 22 hours. 

That said, they have been known for their high uptime a couple of years back. So who knows, they might get back to a good uptime average sooner rather than later. 

GoDaddy, on the other hand, averaged at 99.94% this 2023. 

The best part about GoDaddy is that they have a 99.9% uptime guarantee. This means that if GoDaddy doesn’t maintain a 99.9% uptime, you might be eligible for a discount for the next month or your whole plan. 

Apart from uptime, you also have to look at site speed. In other words, performance.

GoDaddy has a faster website loading speed in different parts of the world. This is mainly because they have data centers on several continents. And when you’re accessing near a data center, then your site speed is definitely faster. 

Hostinger is fast, too. They have a LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress sites. This allows the pages to load as fast as 356ms! 

Website Building

Site-building is a feature a lot of new website owners look for. 

That said, a site builder isn’t something that makes or breaks a web host. Still, it’s best to look for a website builder that’s easy to use. 

For Hostinger, their Shared Hosting plan already has WordPress included. If you’re not planning to use WordPress, you have to subscribe to their website builder add-on, Zyro.  

I know, it’s annoying that you need to pay for a non-WordPress site builder. 

On the other hand, GoDaddy offers a 1-click WordPress installation, as well as their own customizable website builder. The great thing about their website builder is that you can start using it for free!  

Migration Services

Hostinger and GoDaddy both have free migration services. 

The only difference is that GoDaddy only has this free service for WordPress sites. 

To add to that, you will be doing the site migration yourself. This is more tedious than Hostinger, where the customer support team will be the one migrating your site for you. 

Products and Features

A lot of website owners care more about the features included instead of the price. 

So let’s take a look at what’s inside the most basic Shared Hosting plan of Hostinger and GoDaddy:

Domain

I have to admit, it’s a little disappointing for both Hostinger and GoDaddy to not have free domains on their most basic shared hosting plan. 

If you want a domain from one of these providers, you’ll have to pay an additional fee of $8-15. If you’re just starting out, the total price might be a bit expensive. 

But if you avail of higher plans, you can get a free domain name. 

For Hostinger, you have to subscribe to their Premium or Business Shared Hosting plans. 

The same goes for GoDaddy as you have to get their next plan, the Economy. Plus, you have to subscribe to an annual plan to get the free domain. 

Backups

One of the features I always look for in a hosting plan is the backups. 

Fortunately for Hostinger, it has a weekly backup. I still prefer a daily backup that I can get on-demand, but this is good enough for their Single Shared Hosting plan. 

If you want a daily backup, you have to get the Business Shared Hosting plan priced at $3.99/mo.

As for GoDaddy, there are no backups available on their plans. If you want automatic daily backups, you need to pay $2.99/mo. 

Is it worth it to pay the extra for automatic daily backup?

If you’re concerned about data loss, then yes. 

Security

Security is another important factor to consider. Even if there is secure monitoring, your chosen web host should have software installed just to protect your website. 

Between the two, Hostinger has better security features thanks to its free SSL certificate and Cloudflare-protected nameservers. 

Unfortunately, GoDaddy doesn’t offer an SSL certificate for free, unless you get an annual plan. And even with that, your SSL certificate expires in a year. 

This means that you have to renew and pay a fee or just not have an SSL certificate. This makes you vulnerable to people or malware that might get access to the data exchange between your website and your audience. 

Pricing

So who has the cheaper prices between Hostinger and GoDaddy?

If you’ll notice, GoDaddy has more expensive plans despite lacking a lot of free features we’ve mentioned earlier. Because of this, I would pick Hostinger in terms of price and value-for-money. 

Customer Support

Lastly, we have customer support. 

Nowadays, 24/7 customer support is a must. Since technical issues don’t happen at a set time, your customer team should always be accessible and responsive at any time of the day.

Even if Hostinger only has a live chat channel, this doesn’t make it any less effective compared to GoDaddy’s customer team. 

If anything, GoDaddy’s services need improvement in terms of knowledge and beginner tutorials.

But overall, both offer great customer support.
