Even if you use data-heavy content, Siteground’s SSD storage space lets it load pretty quickly. 

As for HostGator, they only offer SSD storage space for their higher plans. If you get their most basic Shared Hosting plan, the Hatchling Plan, you’re stuck with HDD storage space, which is a tad bit slower to load.

Siteground, on the other hand, only offers a FREE WordPress site migration plug-in. This plugin will help you do the migration yourself. And don’t worry, it’s pretty easy to use even for the inexperienced. 

It’s important to note that this plugin is only free for WordPress sites. If you’re running a different CMS, you’ll have to pay for it.  

Features

Some of the most common hosting features are bandwidth and storage space, free domain, and email address.

Both providers offer free emails, with SiteGround allowing an unlimited number of accounts. 

If you’re looking to get a domain name with your host, HostGator gives a great deal by offering a domain name for FREE in your first year. That’ll save around $15. 

As for SiteGround, they don’t have a free domain, which isn’t a big deal if you want a domain name from a different host anyway. 

When it comes to bandwidth and storage, you can count on HostGator as they offer unmetered bandwidth and storage space even on their cheapest plan, the Hatchling Plan. 

Compared to that, SiteGround falls short, only offering 10GB of storage space for their StartUp plan. But as we mentioned earlier, they use SSD storage space, which means it’s very fast to load. 

Additionally, if you’re looking to stay true to eco-friendly ideals, then Siteground offers 100% renewable energy-powered servers, ensuring your site’s carbon footprint is neutral.

What about money-back guarantees?

Well, Siteground offers the industry standard 30 days refund policy, while HostGator goes for longer at 45 days. To be sure, though, you’ll have time to test out the provider and see if it’s a good fit for you.
